What is Alloy 20?

Some people describe alloy 20 as a super stainless steel. It will also resist other types of acids, so it is good for any application where you have to process acids. Thus, it will work well for petroleum products, synthetic rubber, plastics, solvents, organic chemicals, explosives, and many other applications. While you can find many pre-manufactured pipes and fittings made from alloy 20, it is also possible to weld alloy 20 to make holding tanks, heat exchangers, or other fixtures.  Thus, it is a highly versatile and highly durable material. 

While you might be able to save money by going with a different material, it can still be worth your money to go with alloy 20. You might have a higher cost upfront, but you won't have the risk of having to go back and repair components of your production line, nor will you have to entirely retrofit your production line because of corrosion damage or stress damage.
